More Information

Glass Harp (Phil Keaggy, John Sferra, and Daniel Pecchio) is thrilled to be headed to the Rex Theater and back to Pittsburgh! One would need to count back some 39 years to their last area appearances at Pitt Stadium (August 1972) and Chatham University (September 1972). They sincerely apologize for the wait.

Along with Joe Walsh and The James Gang, Glass Harp was a mainstay of the thriving music scene centered on Ohio's Kent State University in the early 1970's. After quickly being signed to Decca Records, the band recorded three albums and embarked on numerous national tours which took them from Carnegie Hall and The Fillmore East, to the Winterland Ballroom and Whisky-A-Go-Go and hundreds in between. After parting ways in 1972, Phil Keaggy would become a world-renowned guitar icon and a superstar of Contemporary Christian Music. John Sferra built a successful studio and production career, while Daniel Pecchio became a co-founder of the popular Michael Stanley Band.

Since 2000, Glass Harp has occasionally reunited for one-off shows and short tours. In 2010, they released the adventurous Live at the Beachland Ballroom, recorded at a November 2008 performance at the popular Cleveland venue. Having been met with near-universal praise, the album is the first to truly capture the band's improvisational side. Included amongst longer takes of classic songs are explosive instrumental jams showcasing their more progressive/experimental side that has until now remained absent from their official catalog, but has become the centerpiece of their live performances.
