BILLY BRANCH has followed a very non-traditional path to the blues. Unlike many blues artists, he isn't from the South. Billy was born in Chicago in 1951 and was raised in Los Angeles. He first picked up a harmonica at the age of ten and immediately began to play simple tunes. Billy returned to Chicago in the summer of '69 and graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in political science. It was during these years that he was introduced to the Blues. He soon became immersed in the local blues scene. He spent a great deal of time at legendary blues clubs such as: Queen Bee’s and Theresa's Lounge; he learned from such stalwart harmonica players like: Big Walter Horton, James Cotton, Junior Wells and Carey Bell.

JAMES HARMAN is a one of a kind showman, vocalist, song writer, harp player and wiseguy. He was born and raised in Anniston, Alabama where he quickly picked up on the black blues and soul music being played on juke boxes and the radio in the Deep South. In Harman's teens, he started playing juke joints and dance clubs throughout the South in the early 1960's, recording nine 45 RPM singles, for obscure southern labels. Harman has had his original songs used in 17 movies and has been nominated for 19 pestiferous W. C. Handy awards. He played harmonica on many ZZ Top releases and live with them on many international TV shows. James Harman has releases on many labels, like Enigma, Rhino, Black Top, Continental, Cannonball, Pacific Blues and Gulfcoast Records.

Widely sought after for his knowledge of and fluency in the Blues idioms, STEVE FREUND has earned a reputation as one of the hottest players on today's blues scene. He served an unreproducible apprenticeship after leaving N.Y.C. In 1976, learning the role of second guitar behind Hubert Sumlin, Lee Jackson, Homesick James, Louis Myers, and many others. He spent two years working with Big Walter Horton and Floyd Jones, learning the deep blues and the idiosyncrasies that are part of the art.
